Future Connections deploys NIx RAN Energy Saver rApp at MasOrange
The solution maximises energy efficiency and sustainability of the operator’s network
Etten-Leur, Netherlands, 17th December ‘25 – Future Connections, the innovative agentic-first provider of comprehensive customer experience, assurance, RAN optimisation and automation solutions, today announced the deployment of its NIx RAN Energy Saver rApp in MasOrange’s mobile network as part of the wider Ericsson Intelligent Automation Platform (EIAP) implementation.
MasOrange, Spain’s largest operator by customer base, is advancing towards more efficient and autonomous network management. In collaboration with Ericsson, the company is deploying 5G Open RAN infrastructure and enhancing its network management system through EIAP — an open, multi-vendor, multi-technology automation platform. Within this Open RAN environment, MasOrange integrated the Ericsson’s Cell Anomaly Detector and the Future Connections’ NIx Energy Saver rApp, the latter specifically to adopt a more sustainable and cost-efficient approach to network operations.
The NIx RAN Energy Saver rApp optimises energy consumption by dynamically switching radio resources on and off based on customisable policies that consider traffic forecasts and network performance. Key benefits include:
- Optimised power consumption across the network
- Customisable energy-saving strategies with high flexibility
- Integration of multiple features and technologies for greater savings
- Rapid response to traffic surges
- Reduced OPEX through automation
- Enhanced sustainability efforts
“The implementation of the NIx RAN Energy Saver rApp within Ericsson’s EIAP ecosystem provides MasOrange with a powerful tool for improved energy efficiency, network flexibility and cost control, while maintaining service quality and supporting sustainability goals,” said Angel Cifuentes, Operations Director at Future Connections. “This is one of many applications that we have developed to help operators embrace intelligent, open network management and automation”.
