The project focused on the development of software technology that optimises the energy consumption of radio access sub-networks (RAN) in mobile communications networks (4G and preferably 5G, with potential application in 6G), irrespective of equipment manufacturer and Radio Access Technology (RAT)generation. It was inspired by the “Open RAN” paradigm, capable of combining considerable energy efficiency (and a parallel reduction in the costs of supplying radio resources) with a level of service that is barely affected.
The outcome
Our Energy Saver solution, supports network operators with the optimisation of their power consumption by orchestrating the energy saving functions of their RAN equipment based on pre-defined highly customisable energy saving policies.
The successful project was partly funded by the European Union through CDTI, a business public entity under the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities that promotes innovation and technological development of Spanish companies.
